Bill Firpo（Nicolas Cage饰）自己能保证做一个诚实的人，但他却无法拒绝他那两个作奸犯科的兄弟的花言巧语，总是加入他们一伙，出去到处招摇撞骗。在他的两个兄弟中，Dave（Jon Lovitz饰）是一个相当聪明的人，而Alvin（Dana Carvey饰）Dana Carvey则是一个有盗窃癖的人。他们发现抢劫小镇上的银行竟然如此简单，那家银行竟连一点抵抗的能力都没有。接下来他们面临的问题就是，他们能不能在暴风雪来临之前赶快从小镇上逃走。当圣诞节悄悄来临的时候，他们三个人背着他们的战利品在被瑟瑟寒风包围小镇上东躲西藏，后来又不慎掉下桥，恰巧被一位好心的年轻人救上岸，这位年轻人更是把他们邀请到家里款待他们丰盛的晚餐。无意中，他们发现，那位年轻人正是他们曾经蒙面打劫时要挟过的银行经理。面对这位年轻人慈悲的心，他们渐渐被融化了……
